Salim Washington has had a wonderfully checkered career, from Detroit
inner-city teenager to prep school phenom, Harvard undergrad, preacher,
teacher, father of four, grad student, and consistently through all of
this, Roxbury Mass. based reedman and composer.
Although he has appeared previously as a sideman (including an
early Accurate release, The Billy Skinner Double Jazz Quartet "Kosen
Rufu" AC-3333), "Love in Exile" is Salim's first album as a leader. It
features his core band along with some very distinguished guests, namely
Joe Bonner on piano, Kuumba Frank Lacy on trombone and trumpet, and
Artie Moore on bass.
